Self-Tape – Video Audition for Models & Actors
A self-tape is a video recording prepared by an actor or model to present their performance or introduction for agencies, castings, or potential clients. Self-tapes are used to showcase acting skills, expressions, voice, and text interpretation. They are especially important in the casting process, allowing agencies and clients to evaluate a candidate’s potential even without an in-person meeting.
How to Prepare for a Self-Tape?
- Clothing: Wear fitted outfits in solid colors; avoid distracting patterns that distort your figure.
- Grooming: Keep hands neat, hair natural, and if wearing makeup – keep it very light and subtle.
- Introduction: Prepare a short self-introduction including your name, profession, talents, and skills.
- Languages: Record in both Polish and English versions, if possible.
- Catwalk Video: We also record a simple walk/catwalk to show body proportions, posture, and natural movement. This is a standard part of polaroids and helps agencies and clients better evaluate your potential for runway and commercial jobs.
Recording Time
A self-tape usually takes between 30 minutes and 1 hour, depending on preparation and the number of takes.
